Status in “bash” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Arrays declared global in function and initialised in same line are
  not visible outside of function.

  This is solved in patch 25 for Bash 4.2 but it's not available in
  Ubuntu Precise yet.
