Beta2 here
With raring-alternate-i386, everything was fine. I managed to do the
check for errors. I checked my LiveUSB which is created using the 'dd'
method.
BUT ...
With raring-desktop-i386, the check for errors does not work at all. It
will only show this - please see the attached screenshot.
Haven't tested yet the 64bit so not sure what is going on there.

Title:
Check disc for defects fails to run from live media
Status in “casper” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Just as the title says the "Check disc for defects" option on the live
media fails to run, or even begin running in Raring. For this test I
used Ubuntu i386 20130408, but I also saw this with Lubuntu i386
20130403.
OTOH it worked OK in Ubuntu GNOME i386 20130402.1.
Since we're approaching final testing this needs to be fixed ASAP.
