Title:
top/uptime reports load avg > 1 for idle i5 cpu
Status in “procps” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Binary package hint: procps
On a laptop with an i5 M450 cpu (which got two hyperthreaded cores),
top and uptime claims the load to be around 1.1-1.3 even when the
computer is practically idle, i.e. top just shows a couple of
processes hovering on 1-2% cpu, nothing else. The cpu temperature also
suggests that it is not really doing much. If I start one busylooping
process, the load settles on 2.0, and with two it goes to 3.0, so
afaict the load simply off by 1.0.
Maverick, procps is 1:3.2.8-9ubuntu3, linux-image is
2.6.35.23.25~pre201010220901.
