If there's only a single primary partition as indicated by the
combination of the bug description and the log, I have some difficulty
seeing how bug 1028905 could be related.

Bug description:
  Pandaboard ES, armhf-omap4 Alpha3 20120725.3. Using an already
  configured, ext4, single partition memory stick causes partman/kernel
  to fail to recognise the volume.

  Installation can continue, and retrying "detect disks" will now show
  the memory stick as /dev/sda.
