  Default locale in example preseed is set to en_US

Status in “installation-guide” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  In the installation-guide-i386 package, version 20100518ubuntu6
  available on Precise, the example-preseed.txt.gz file contains:

  # Preseeding only locale sets language, country and locale.
  d-i debian-installer/locale string en_US

  This looks like a legacy ISO-8859-1 locale which should probably be
  changed to the default value on a vanilla Ubuntu installation.
