My laptop is similar, e.g. I marked UEFI higher than "CD-ROM".

Can you please tell us your bios manufacturer / version?

Also can you please check provide:
* uname -m
* and whether /sys/firmware/efi exists

Bug description:
  grub install fails both when using ubuntu installer from 'try now' or
  'install' option. BIOS has an option to allow for 'legacy' OSes (non-
  UEFI) to have priority over UEFI installs, and this option is enabled.
