Could it be that your network settup is causing this issue, because
there where installations of the builds you encounter (that have other
problems), that do not show this.

When attempting to do a preseeded install on phsyical hardware via
cobbler and NFS, the quantal-desktop-i386.iso from 2012-09-08 with
md5sum 28346e20ebcf9a1c1f25b5d1a0e92a97, I get "The installer
encountered an unrecoverable error and will now reboot."
