Title:
No File Manager in Ubuntu 12.10

Status in “ubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I am currently running Ubuntu 12.10 for testing purposes and after
upgrades pending for a few days discovered that No file manager is
asociated to folders in Unity. Nautilus or File (Which is what was
being used) have been uninstalled and there is no default File
  Manager.

I am well aware of the open discussion on changing filemanagers
  https://lists.launchpad.net/unity-design/msg09914.html

  I have upgraded from 11.10 to 12.04 to 12.10

  Steps to reproduce,

Locate a folder via Dashboard (Since there is no Filemanager icon in the dashboard)
  Open the file

  Result

File is open with Disk Usage Analizer and not a File Manager

  Expected Result

Use the folder with a file manager.
