Title:
linker assigns addresses in relocatable output

Status in “binutils” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: binutils

compiling kernel 2.6.32, the linker seems to assign addresses for relocatable output, resulting in BUG messages like:
unable to handle kernel paging request

  see [1]

after bisecting the kernel sources, i found the first bad commit,
which is related to the linker script. tejun heo assumes, that it is a
  bug in the linker [2]
