Actually this seems like a hardware error. Notice the following from

Jul 8 12:28:33 ubuntu ntfsresize: ****************************************************************************

Jul 8 12:28:33 ubuntu ntfsresize: * surface caused by deterioration, manufacturing faults or other reason. *
Jul 8 12:28:33 ubuntu ntfsresize: * The reliability of the disk may stay stable or degrade fast. We suggest *
Jul 8 12:28:33 ubuntu ntfsresize: * making a full backup urgently by running 'ntfsclone --rescue ...' then *
Jul 8 12:28:33 ubuntu ntfsresize: * run 'chkdsk /f /r' on Windows and rebooot it TWICE! Then you can resize *
Jul 8 12:28:33 ubuntu ntfsresize: * NTFS safely by additionally using the --bad-sectors option of ntfsresize.*

Bug description:
Somewhere short after creating the user the installer crashed. I saw
it segfault in an earlier attempt, though the stacktrace will give way
more clues. No special parameters or anything, no weird behaviour
while running ubiquity.
