VirtualBox 4.2.4 is fresh released.  Could you give the Ubuntu12.10
installation with this VirtualBox version a retry?

  I was just doing a fresh install of Ubuntu Desktop 64 bits 12.04 on VirtualBox 4.2.2 on Windows 7 64 bits.
  Hope the logs files helps the dev team.
