Public bug reported:
I installed Ubuntu 12.10 desktop x86 onto the brand new machine that I'm
writing this from (fresh install). It went through its install, said it
was finished, offered to reboot. I accepted. Now, it boots, passes
through Grub, and then gives a screen that looks like the attached
images.
>From there, I cannot reach a terminal with ctrl-alt-Fkey.
But if I press the powr button, it does initiate a shtdown.
So I tried installig 12.04, and that worked well. I'm writing this from
12.04, so attached data reflects the right hardware but not the problem
OS.
