  New

Bug description:
  amd64 12,10 all updated to 20121021 boots to solid purple screen.
  Some flickering from hard drive when Ctrl-Alt-F1 pressed.

  Removing "splash" from linux line boots as expected.

   Linux version 3.5.0-17-generic (buildd at allspice) (gcc version 4.7.2

  Acer Aspire 5253 wide screen dual processor 2 GB 1.6 gHz

   Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Wrestler [Radeon HD 6310]

  12,04 works fine.  Booted to normal 1366x768 screen on QQ A1, A2, A3,
  B1, B2 without this problem.  First showed up on RC.
