Public bug reported:
Kubuntu 12.04.1LTS i368 and alternate CD does not install on IBM
ThinkPad T42 (Centrino M CPU)
Initially, the online upgrade failed and the system became unbootable.
I unsuccessfully tried to rescue the system.
Then I downloaded the regular Kubuntu 12.04.1 i386 (32bit) CD but the installation failed with the following message:
"This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU:
pae
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU."
The same message appeared when I tried to install using the alternate CD.
I did not read anywhere that the support for this particular processor was dropped so I assume that this is a bug.
Thanks for your support!
** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
