We really should update the install instructions... you need external
HDD for installation e.g. usb stick or usb hdd. Otherwise you are hit by
bug 1053030

Title:
Can't install 12.10 beta 2 on pandaboard alongside boot image

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Install of 12.10 Beta 2 on panda board (OMAP4) fails due to crash in
  ubiquity after setting up partitions.

  Install image:
  http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.10/ubuntu-12.10-beta2-desktop-armhf+omap4.img

Image was installed to a 8GB SD card using the instructions indicated
in the release page [1]. Image created what looked similar to a live
CD image when it was booted. Was able to select language and configure
wireless successfully. I attempted to install on the same 8GB SD card
used to boot by creating a 1GB swap at the end of the disk and using
the remaing ~6.3GB for '/' as ext4. After pressing continue, the crash
occurred. Was unable to upload automatically, so doing so from a
  different host.

  .crash is attached.
