Title:
too many virtual consoles
Status in Default settings for the Baltix GNU/Linux OS and desktop:
Confirmed
Status in “upstart” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Binary package hint: system-services
Hello,
I installed Xubuntu 8.04 because I wanted a small memory consumption
on a travel laptop.
I saw that the /etc/event.d file directory defines too many virtual
consoles by default.
I deleted the files tty3, tty4, tty5 and tty6 in this directory in
order to make my box lighter.
Could you please ensure there aren't too many consoles by default,
especially for Xubuntu ?
For example, why not splitting this package into 2 packages:
- system-services-core
- system-services-extended
The Ubuntu distro would make its meta-package(s) depend on system-
services-extended (which itself would depend on system-services-core).
The Xubuntu distro would make its meta-package(s) depend on system-
services-core only.
Thanks.
Regards.
