Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

  Booting Feisty 7.04 AMD64 Desktop CD on a dual-core system with PATA
  and SATA drives attached.  After starting installation from the
  desktop, the ext3 formatting of a SATA drive is started but hangs on
  reaching 5%.  Output from

  uname -a >uname
  cat /proc/cpuinfo >cpu
  lspci -v >lspci
  grep ^ /proc/ide/*/model >ide

  will be attached.

  It seems several others have identical problems, but I can't find that
  they ever reported them:
