Any chance you can try again with 12.04 or 12.10, the media detection
code changed a fair bit since this bug was first reported.

Title:
hangs while booting lucid 64-bit livecd (/dev/sdf: no medium found)

Status in “casper” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: plymouth

I'm using a current lucid daily 64 bit image as of 14-mar-10, booted
from a usb stick. The boot splash comes up and the progress bar
animates as if something is happening but the system never boots.
There is no activity on the usb drive. I can switch to the first
console, which shoes the following line several times:

  /init: line 7: can't open /dev/sdf: no medium found
