Title:
man page split.1.gz is garbled in part

Status in “coreutils” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
the man page for split(1), included in the coreutils package, has a
section that seems to have been mangled, possibly in translation from
info. This section begins with "CHUNKS may be: N" and extends to the
following "AUTHORS" section. What should be a list is all strung out
on one line and difficult to decipher.
