I am marking this invalid. Upon further research, I was looking in the
wrong place.

grub_dprintf is not available (as malloc isn't available) until
grub_mm_base is restored later on around line 940.

  Assignment gnub_mm_base = NULL in relocator.c causes boot hang

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  The statement in grub-core/lib/relocator.c:591:
       grub_mm_base = NULL;
  causes my system to lock-up when booting in EFI mode. I have determined this through liberal placement of grub_dprintf's, and eventually by commenting out the offending line.

  By commenting this line out, I am able to progress further in the boot
  sequence.

  At this point, I am still unable to boot in EFI mode, however, I'm not
  sure whether this part is due to grub, or linux: it occurs much closer
  to the hand-off, and I have yet to determine whether it's related to
  this bug, or not.
