Found workaround at

"Open music lens, click on the filter > Sources & set to Rhythmbox only
Then see if you can preview any of the files shown. 

So here when the music lens is set to 'Sources' > All it will often show
the same track twice, once sourced by Banshee (no preview), once by
Rhythmbox (can be previewed"

I set my sources to Rhythmbox and now my local .mp3 files can be
previewed in the lens (Home or Music Lens)

  Dash does not play local music file previews

  New

Bug description:
  When previewing music files via Amazon, I am able to play previews of
  these files with no issues. I cannot preview a music file that is on
  my local machine. IE: If I search "ABBA", I can right-click on the
  result and play the preview songs within Dash. Any local .mp3 files
  for ABBA will not preview within Dash.
