I have added an external repository manually to the sources.list after
installing Xubuntu and I forgot about it. Software-properties was
behaving abnormally because of that. When I removed the added part, it
worked as expected.

  Invalid

Bug description:
  The program starts and appears to work as expected, but any change
  introduced is ignored. Also, and more serious, if on the updates tab I
  select Pre-released updates, all info about repositories is erased and
  just one entry is left on /etc/apt/sources.list:
