I'm not sure how anyone dual booting with Windows 7 will have a problem
with this, since the installer will handle that automatically, and there's
no need to use a custom boot setup.

Title:
Installing grub to MBR interferes with Windows 7 upgrades
Status in One Hundred Paper Cuts:
Invalid
Status in “grub-installer” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
If you manually parition your hard drive on a dual boot computer in a
manner such as
/dev/sda1 - windows files(os)
/dev/sda2 - windows
/dev/sda3 - windows
/dev/sda4 extended partition
/dev/sda5 linux swap
/dev/sda6 ext4 /boot
/dev/sda6 ext4 /
/dev/sda7 ext4 /home
The you install ubuntu and choose to install grub to /boot rather than
sda (MBR) the ubuntu install fails to find grub and boot after the
installation completes.
