Is there any update around this particular issue?  Do I need to bypass
the attempt to upgrade to 11.1 and load either 12.1 or 12.4 instead via
a boot-up disk/boot-up pen drive for the upgrade to take place?

If anyone with knowledge on this particular issue, root cause and
resolution, a post and/or response would be greatly appreciated.

  the following exception was generated once I selected the "Upgrade to
  11.1" button via the "Update Manager":

  An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
  E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

   This can be caused by:
   * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
   * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
   * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

  If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command
  'ubuntu-bug update-manager' in a terminal.

  I have already executed 'ubuntu-bug update-manager' command.
