Tried to erase existing Ubuntu 12.10 and install, that failed too,
during the same "detecting hardware" stage.

Title:
Re-Installation of 12.10 from live usb crashes

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 previously failed due to the installer
crashing, attempts to complete installation post-crash failed, as
Ubuntu didn't recognise the network or audio devices.

Tried to re-install from a Live USB, which crashed on trying to
  install ubiquity. I've attached syslog.
