Hi Dave,

I just changed the name (only in the email) for the sake of privacy. I
changed the group to the normal group on for the mlocate database, which
worked fine until I rebooted and then the group name was reverted to the
old group.
Looked like:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          16 Jul 19 18:03 /etc/alternatives/locate
-> /usr/bin/mlocate
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          24 Jul 19 18:03 /usr/bin/locate ->
/etc/alternatives/locate
-rwxr-s--x 1 root group    39472 Aug 17  2011 /usr/bin/mlocate
-rw-r----- 1 root group 16161892 Nov  5 09:29 /var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db

After reboot
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          16 Jul 19 18:03 /etc/alternatives/locate
-> /usr/bin/mlocate
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root          24 Jul 19 18:03 /usr/bin/locate ->
/etc/alternatives/locate
-rwxr-s--x 1 root group    39472 Aug 17  2011 /usr/bin/mlocate
-rw-r----- 1 root lightdm 16161892 Nov  5 09:29 /var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db

Sorry for the late reply.

Best,
Brian
