Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 on a Dell Inspiron 1420
During the latest update this around 16:00 UTC on 26 May 2012, the update manager hung after printing

Examining /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d.
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/header_postinst.d/dkms 3.2.0-24-generic-pae /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-24-generic-pae

The program depmod has been running for over 20 minutes with 98-100% of
the cpu according to top.

I have attached a file with more information from the update-manager
"Details" (cut and pasted).

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
