Title:
"Downloading Package Files" seems to fall asleep forever.
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
1) using Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala - released in October 2009 and supported until April 2011
2) Update Manager, I guess.
3) I expected to download:
a) the latest updates from the Update Manager
b) "Install the gufw package"
4) "Downloading Package Files" seems to fall asleep forever.
I let it try for hours - literally [17:30 - 00:30]
- broadband internet connection
It refuses to be closed.
Reboot required - as I do not know another way to force closure.
Do I need to reformat the disk and reinstall Ubuntu?
At this point, I do not know what else to try.
