Jim Beasley:

It would be helpful if you would restore the symbolic link

    mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf_MINE
    ln -s ../run/resolvconf/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

and work with us to figure out why the dynamically generated file
/run/resolvconf/resolv.conf fails to contain the expected nameserver
addresses.

With what utility (ifup, NetworkManager, dhclient on the command
line...) do you configure each of your interfaces? If you use "ifup"
then you need to add lines to /etc/network/interfaces as described in
resolvconf(8). If you use NetworkManager or dhclient then you shouldn't
have to do anything to get the right behavior since these utilities feed
nameserver addresses to resolvconf which puts them into
/run/resolvconf/resolv.conf.

Title:
12.04 Upgrade Results in a DNS Issue

Status in “resolvconf” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Just upgraded from 11.04 to ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and lost the capability
to resolve names on the system. There were no problems indicated
during the install, however after the install performed the reboot, I
have not been able to resolve any domain names. My network cards all
have my ISP's DNS configured as they were prior to the install. but
still unable to resolve domains. Is this a known problem? Does anyone
have an idea what the problem might be?
