Howard Brodale, this seems to be a duplicate bug of these bugs:
Update manager doesn't calculate free space correctly for distribution upgrade
update manager space calculation for a release upgrade was wrong - aftereffect: package ghc 7.4.1-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

[Master] package failed to install/upgrade: package is already
  installed and configured

Status in dpkg:
Status in “dpkg” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: dpkg

For yet unknown reasons packages fail to install with an error like:

  dpkg: error processing flashplugin-installer (--configure):
package flashplugin-installer is already installed and configured

  without further error.
This is a "one time" failure. Another run of the installation doesn't produce any error.
