I also have this problem. I did a fresh install from CD and started
installing packages, not sure which one caused this. I tried "sudo apt-
get install -f" as mentioned above, but get the following error:

I'm currently stuck without a package manager and so I will have to reinstall and hope I don't see this again. I'm sorry that I can't help to fix this.
