Have same issue on Ubuntu 12.04. The "append domain-search" has no
effect at all. But "prepend domain-search" does what is supposed to be
done by "append", which appends the extra search domains after what we
got from DNS server.

Bug description:
  If I have the following line in my dhclient.conf there is no effect on resolv.conf:
  append domain-search "decideinteractive.com.", "247realmedia.com.", "247wpp.corp";

  Until last week it correctly added the domains to the "search" line in
  resolv.conf

  Now if I have the following line in dhclient.conf then resolv.conf is updated correctly:
  prepend domain-search "decideinteractive.com.", "247realmedia.com.", "247wpp.corp";

  As you can see the "append" line is identical to the "prepend" line
  apart from the append/prepend keyword.
