Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 12.04 in Virtual Box:

The software is unusable behind a proxy:

It simply waits and waits, but does get nothing.

I already got the proxy set up in "Networks" in the control center, for
https.

To fix , set the https_proxy variable

https_proxy=http://www.example.com:8000/
