Just tried it again.  For me at least it is solved. Sourceforge is up
and running again!

Bug description:
  As per below, error occurs on trying to install ttf-mscorefonts-
  installer

  sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

  A popup box also appears 
  The following packages requested additional data downloads after package installation, but the data could not be downloaded or could not be processed.

  ttf-mscorefonts-installer

  The download will be attempted again later, or you can try the
  download again now.  Running this command requires an active Internet
  connection.

  With two buttons, one for close and another for "Run this action now" .
  "Run this action now" opens a terminal and after a minute or so the terminal window closes, but the popup box remains.

  Also note in another attempt, the python error didn't occur, but the
  popup box still gets displayed.
