I see the error, and it gives me the idea that you possibly did not
format /dev/sdb before trying to install to it, since it says 'unable to
identify a filesystem in hd1'. Have you verified that you formatted this
partition to specify a filesystem before installing grub to it?

  I tried to install  Ubuntu 12.04 64bit on my disk and in half way
  installetion was working OK, but then I got error that it can't
  install grub loader.
