  hangs indefinitely on reboot and shutdown

  Fix Released

Bug description:
  for at least two weeks now, i can neither shutdown or reboot the system. i have tried the  
  shutdown' and 'restart' dropdowns from the panel, and i have tried terminal command 'sudo reboot - h now ' and  'sudo shutdwon - h now'. I can only perform either of these by holding down the power button for several seconds.
