hhmmm... and today it didn't do that. Either it has been fixed or so far
there has been every time at least one package to be removed or
installed. I'll follow this.

  After upgrading to 12.04 update-manager has been asking password each
  time it is updating something, not just when installing something new
  (like it is ie. with new kernel).
