Please find attached /var/log/installer/syslog and partman
The user managed to reinstall GRUB successfully. Current BootInfo: http://paste.ubuntu.com/892926
Remarks:
- the "dmesg | grep EFI" output is much shorter now. (i don't know why, nor what it means)
- when i originally filled the bug, i supposed that Ubiquity used grub-efi because of the presence of the "insmod efi_gop" , and "insmod efi_uga" in the grub.cfg. But currently these elements are still there even with grub-pc, so i guess now that my supposition was wrong, and Ubiquity indeed used grub-pc (but failed) ? if yes, i'll have to re-title this bug.
** Attachment added: "partman and syslog"
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/916299/+attachment/2911091/+files/partman%20and%20syslog.tar.gz
** Description changed:
- a user installed Ubuntu in dual-boot with Windows on a non-GPT computer.
+ a user installed Ubuntu in dual-boot with Windows on a non-GPT computer.
The default installation failed (no access to Ubuntu), and broke access to Windows.
Here is the Boot-Info-Script summary after installation:
- stable: http://paste.ubuntu.com/803082
- GIT version: http://paste.ubuntu.com/803319/
- It seems that Ubiquity should have installed grub-pc instead of grub-
- efi.
+ We can see the presence of the "insmod efi_gop" , and "insmod efi_uga"
+ in the grub.cfg (does it mean that Ubiquity installed grub-efi?)
