Most installer crashes aren't marked critical, or we'd never get
anything else done :-)

Please attach /var/log/installer/syslog from your installation attempt.
It'd be surprising if this were a problem across the board, though, as
it would be failing all our automated tests ...

Title:
Installer crashes due to missing file

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Precise beta 1 (kubuntu variant, though I have no reason to suspect
  this is a kubuntu-specific problem)

At around the time it asked me about my timezone, the installer crashed with the error message:
No such file or directory: '/target/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-17-generic-pae'

I'm not even sure this laptop has more than 4GiB RAM, so I'm surprised
  it's using pae.
