Title:
hash sum mismatch error
Status in “aptitude” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: aptitude
I really don't see a match but, perhaps many are matches. U9.10 was
behaving surprisingly well until, at this point, several weeks ago. I
have intermittent problems with apt-get update and even more problems
with apt-get upgrade. It does not matter whether it is aptitude or
apt-get. I also did, at one point see an bz2 error that I believe is
in 105813. In doing extensive searches in the forums and extensive
searches with google I find there is no solution. There may be a 'try
this' source or keep trying it will eventually work, or use aptitude
instead of apt-get. Nowhere does it say here is what happened and here
is the solution, as opposed to a try-this. I have seen it blamed on
bad RAM.
I have this problem on four different machines in two different
geographical areas and U9.10(64) as well as U9.10(32).
I have done RAM checks.
I have tried different package sources. I have tried clean, autoclean.
I have tried turning 3 times and clapping. I have tried prayer.
NOTHING works.
This is preventing me from applying security fixes so yes, I would
declare it as a security vulerability.
This occurred after (or during) scheduled maintenance in mid to late
March.
There are just a pant load of hits on this in the forums.
Would it be possible for this to get fixed or at least definitively
explained so, ideally people won't ever see this again, or at least
they can find this bug and know what the problem is and what the
circumvention is.
Thanks.
Walt
