Title:
find_multipaths feature missing from upstream
Status in “multipath-tools” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
There's an interesting feature called find_multipaths that was first
mentioned here on dm-devel in July 2011.
https://www.redhat.com/archives/dm-devel/2011-July/msg00102.html
It's now the corner stone of dm multipath configuration in the RHEL 6 DM Multipath configuration guide
https://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/DM_Multipath/config_file_blacklist.html
What it basically allows is autoprobing of devices to safely enable multpath on luns that satisfy
the proper criteria. It has the power to reduce a multipath.conf configuration to a single line.
Alas it doesn't exist in the upstream sources, only as a patch in RH's multipath package
0021-RHBZ-558636-add-find-multipaths.patch
This bug exists to track the status of this feature and it's ultimate integration into upstream
or into our multipath-tools package.
