Title:
Stable device name update erroneously claims multiple disks

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

After an update to Maverick using update-manager -d I was told that
the device.map had been regenerated "to use stable device names", and
that "since you have more than one disk in your system" there might be
an issue. However, I only have one disk in the system, and device.map
only has a single line as a result.

The warning given is highly technical and somewhat alarming. While it
is important to provide a warning when there might be an issue, the
nature of the warning is such that it would be much better NOT to
provide it if there is really no issue. We should work hard to
identify the cases where the user needs to take action, and warn only
  for them.
