[Bug 953923] [NEW] update-manager will not update, throws error message

update-manager crashes with the following error message.

'W:Duplicate sources.list entry http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/
oneiric/partner i386 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical
.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_partner_binary-i386_Packages), E:Encountered a
section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/mirror.as29550.net_archive.ubuntu.com_dists_oneiric-
proposed_main_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package lists or status file
could not be parsed or opened.'

Apport wouldn't recognise update-manager at all, not by package name,
clicking on the running window or by PID.
