ran apt after update manager and synaptic crashed
it  ran ok
first updated apt - 2  libraies were installed
did autoremove , lots removed
now 400+ packages to upgrade , was 311
now executing  , no sig fault yet
system will be different , don't know if gui update will fault again
will try after apt finishes
