It will say amd64 on all the 64bit versions of the OS. This is correct
even if running an intel that is capable of 64bit speed.

Title:
It's confused about my current installation
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Somehow it thinks this is an AMD64, but this is an Intel Core
processor.
When updating the last few packages of 10.10, it insists that I insert a CD with 11.10 AMD64 Ubuntu on it.
I made such a disk and inserted it, but not surprisingly, it was not satisfied with that.
I get similar requests when I asked instead to upgrade to 11.04
