I just run into this issue on a Dell Inspiron 6400 with a spare battery. In /var/log/udev (attached) I see the following line:
POWER_SUPPLY_MANUFACTURER=PSÿ

  the segv was created by me sending a kill -11. but the 100% cpu is
  unbarable
