After ubiquity crashed I saw that on /target there were two partitions
mounted - the install destination partition and my Debian root
partition. /target/home was also used as a mount point for my Debian
home partition. Is it possible that when configuring hardware the setup
chroots in the wrong /target ?
I didn't do anything else except running the installer, selecting to
choose partitions manually, chose one partition for root and clicked
install. (haven't specified to mount my debian home partition as /home).
Will try installing with the alternate cd image.

Title:
IOError in chroot_setup(): No such file or directory:
'/target/usr/sbin/policy-rc.d'
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Binary package hint: ubiquity
Installing from LiveCD (8.0) . Installer gets to end and then crashes back to LiceCD desktop. Icon in upper left says a "Crash Re[prt Detected".
Clicking on it, a dialog open and says ubiquity closed unexpectedly.
Problem is repeatable on this machine.
CD media verifed OK, in fact, was used to install on different machine
with no issues.
I have had Ubuntu installed on this machine in the past but I am
attempting a fresh installation (dual boot with XP), I manage the
partition mount points myself (sda10 = /, sda11 = /home, sda12 =
swap).
