The same goes for EFI and BIOS Boot Partitions, and is basically the
same issue. Raising to Medium as the underlying infrastructure (in the
form of $reusemethod) now exists, so it may actually be vaguely possible
to fix this soon.

Title:
automatic partitioning does not reuse existing swap / boot partitions
Status in “partman-auto” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
Binary package hint: debian-installer
When installing Xubuntu Jaunty 9.04 using daily "jaunty-
alternate-i386.iso" images, if the selection used during partitioning
is "Guided-use entire disk", the partition editor will create a new
/swap partition and not see the existing /swap partition on any other
disk. I had a /swap defined on sda7; partition editor never saw the
partition.
I expect the existing /swap partition to be used any time I am
installing (X)Ubuntu.
Release: Xubuntu 9.04 dated 12-23-2008
