Title:
  please suppress boot time messages

Status in “grub” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

please suppress all those nasty boot messages grub spits out at boot
time, besides the obvious cosmetic issue, I can't understand why an
average user should be bothered with grub doing its "stage 1.5"
thing... The same applies to the "Starting up" and "Loading please
wait" messages that pop up right after the kernel has kicked in, they
add no valuable information and in my opinion they should be
suppressed. What's worse these prompts are "re-rendered" during the
console font switch that takes place in the ramfs. Best regards, Andre
