Closing the lid fails to suspend the system on a MacBook Pro 6.1 in
12.04 Beta 1
Watching /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID0 shows the correct state when
closed/open.

This worked in 11.10. Bug 863834 (from 11.10) may be related or similar.
No peripherals are attached, including external displays. Same behavior occurs whether AC power is attached or on battery power.
